The Charming Man Who Couldn’t Stay Faithful: Kenny DeWitt built a successful career in Hollywood while becoming one of James Blackthorne’s oldest and most trusted friends. Easygoing, charming, and dependable in a crisis, Kenny often served as a calmer counterpart to the more domineering men around him. His personal life, however, was defined by a chronic inability to remain faithful to his wife, Renee.
Before his marriage unraveled, Kenny had been involved with nurse Winter Austen. When Winter’s obsession with Ethan Blackthorne ended in humiliation, Kenny gave her money to leave Los Angeles, quietly helping remove another source of turmoil from the Blackthornes’ lives. His continued affairs eventually became impossible for Renee to ignore, and she divorced him after repeatedly discovering him with other women.
Their separation exposed another betrayal—this time Renee’s. Kenny was stunned when Sierra arrived from Europe and he learned that Renee had concealed the existence of an adopted daughter throughout their marriage. He felt humiliated that she had maintained such an enormous secret while condemning him for his own dishonesty. Kenny did not yet know that Sierra was actually Renee’s biological daughter with Nathan Blackthorne, a truth Renee had buried to protect Sierra from scandal and from Nathan himself.
Despite their anger and mutual betrayals, Kenny and Renee remained emotionally connected. They gradually found their way back to one another, particularly after Jacqueline Lamont seized control of Merteuil Industries. The loss of Renee’s company brought them closer and led them to plan another wedding.
Kenny’s promises proved unreliable. Jacqueline obtained footage of him with a prostitute after his reconciliation with Renee and used it to blackmail him into revealing the contents of David Jennings’s will. On the day Kenny and Renee were supposed to remarry, Hollywood madam Gemma Sanders arrived with the recording as a cruel wedding present. Devastated by the proof that Kenny had betrayed her yet again, Renee called off the ceremony.
For all his failings as a husband, Kenny remained devoted to Renee and Sierra in moments of crisis. When Benji Rydell murdered Sierra, Kenny joined James in delivering the unbearable news to Renee. He stayed close as she grieved, but soon found himself competing with T.T. Levitt, the former lover who returned to support her. Their rivalry forced Kenny to confront the possibility that his years of betrayal had finally cost him any claim to Renee’s future.
