The Surfer Who Rode Into a Scheme: Keone “Ke” Liu was a professional surfer from Honolulu and a former boyfriend of Kelly Kahoano. Born into a wealthy and prominent Hawaiian family, Ke grew up with privilege, confidence, and the freedom to pursue a successful career on the waves. His family strongly disapproved of Kelly and never considered her an appropriate match for him.

Although their romance ended, Ke and Kelly remained close enough for her to turn to him when her relationship with Stormy Blackthorne stalled. Kelly was determined to marry Stormy, but he appeared reluctant to propose. She invited Ke to Los Angeles and persuaded him to pose as a romantic rival, hoping that the sight of her with a handsome, wealthy former boyfriend would provoke Stormy into making a commitment.

The scheme worked better than Kelly expected. Believing he might lose her to Ke, Stormy asked Kelly to marry him. Before he left town, Kelly was surprised to see Ke coming out of a hotel room at Hotel Terranova with Benji Rydell.
