Born to Rule the Room: The daughter of powerful Hollywood producer James Blackthorne, Miranda grew up surrounded by wealth, celebrity, and the expectation that the world would bend to her will. Spoiled, impulsive, and fiercely protective of her place in her father’s life, she immediately resented his relationship with the much younger Brooke Taylor. On the night before James and Brooke’s wedding, a drunken Miranda accidentally struck Brooke with her car. After James condemned her behavior, Miranda fled to Las Vegas, where she impulsively married charming con man Brett Armstrong and brought him home to Los Angeles.
Miranda remained loyal to Brett even after his criminal past surfaced and he was arrested for the death of his former partner, Bailey. She helped expose Brett’s former girlfriend, Devon, as the person responsible, but their marriage gradually collapsed beneath Brett’s lies, infidelities, and schemes against her family. After learning that Brett had manipulated events surrounding Will Thomerson’s murder, Miranda finally divorced him. She later became pregnant with Brett’s child and considered an abortion, but changed her mind after he pleaded for a chance to become a father. Miranda ultimately suffered a miscarriage, ending one of the last emotional ties between them.
Miranda later became involved with hotel heir David Jennings, who pursued control of Hotel Terranova while winning her affection. Although their romance was often strained, David seemed to offer the stability Brett never could. Miranda’s life took another turn when she became close to private investigator Eddie Distefano. Their relationship began during a period of grief and confusion, but Eddie’s persistence and humor gradually broke through her defenses. After Miranda was badly injured and scarred during an earthquake, Eddie stood by her and convinced her that the injury had not changed the way he saw her.
Despite loving Eddie, Miranda was drawn back to David after learning that he was dying. Determined to make the most of the time they had left, she resumed their affair and became pregnant without knowing which man was the father. Eddie remained beside her, while David disappeared to undergo an experimental procedure that might save his life. Miranda later gave birth to a daughter, Tiger, and initially allowed Eddie to believe the baby was his. When she learned that David was Tiger’s biological father, she kept the truth from Eddie until the secret became impossible to contain. Feeling betrayed by both the affair and Miranda’s deception, Eddie ended their relationship.
During her pregnancy, Miranda accepted an offer from imprisoned madam Gemma Sanders to take over her exclusive escort service. What began as an attempt to protect vulnerable women from violent pimps quickly drew Miranda into a criminal underworld. Crime boss Hugh Rogers retaliated by running her off the road, planting a deadly snake in her car, and hiring someone to kill her. When Hugh was later found murdered, Miranda was arrested after evidence connected her to the body. The charges were eventually dropped after Farrah was framed for the crime, but Miranda’s secrecy and recklessness further damaged her relationship with Eddie.
Miranda’s loyalty to her family repeatedly led her into danger. She helped Stormy and Eddie break Jane Wheeler out of a corrupt rehabilitation facility, was taken hostage aboard a yacht during a confrontation with a drug cartel and frequently used her influence to protect the Blackthornes from scandals of their own making.
Miranda and Eddie eventually reconciled and married, building a home together with Tiger.
